On loosening a proposed requirement that new hotels provide cultural spaces for evening/nighttime use
Councillor Claire Byrne proposed including language in the Dublin City Development Plan 2022-28 requiring hotels with 100 beds or more to provide cultural space for evening and nighttime uses such as performances, theatre or dancing. The chief executive proposed a revised version of this language, raising the threshold for the requirmeent to 150 rooms. In a roll-call vote, councillors rejeted the chief executive's version 29-18, then by voice vote they supported Councillor Byrne's version.
