Supporting the use of modular housing as a temporary provision.

"That this Council supports the use of modular housing as a temporary provision for the alleviation of the current requirement of emergency accommodation for homeless families. This this will take immediate steps including: -the exercising of its powers under Section 179(6)(b) of the Planning and Development Act,2000 as amended (Non requirement for full planning permission procedures by a local authority whereby a situation arises that 'is necessary for dealing urgently with any situation which the manager considers is an emergency situation calling for immediate action') and; -expediting the public procurement process where legitimately possible and/or requesting emergency legislation of the Minister of the Environment in order to do so to build high quality, fully serviced,accessible (ie non-isolated & within reach of existing communities) modular housing within existing communities."(Emergency Motion No 12.)
