Motion

Labour Councillor Declan Meenagh proposed a motion to add to the Dublin City Development Plan 2022-28 a provision "To require that a minimum of 10% of dwellings in all schemes over 100 units are designed to accommodate people with disabilities and older people". Saying this would conflict with certain legislation, the chief executive proposed an amended version: "It is an Objective of Dublin City Council: To ensure where feasible, that the layout of 50% of apartments in any development that are required to be in excess of minimum sizes should be designed to be suitable for older people/mobility impaired people, people living with dementia and people with disabilities". In a roll-call vote, councillors rejected the chief executive's version of the motion, 50 to 3. Councillors then held a voice vote on Councillor Meenagh's original motion, and passed it.
